Heat network regulations
The UK Government has introduced new enforcement powers to regulate heat networks across Great Britain Under the Energy Act 2023. These powers are set out in the Heat Networks (Market Framework) (Great Britain) Regulations 2025. These regulations come into effect from 27 January 2026 and the Council’s 11 communal heat networks will be registered at this time. The 11 communal heat networks are registered with the Energy Ombudsman.
