Music on the Mezzanine with Kayhan Ahura
In a change to the programme, we'll be welcoming Kayhan Ahura to the Mezzanine on Saturday 24 October. Kayhan is an Iranian singer, musician, and composer based in Edinburgh. His musical journey is rooted in the rich traditions of Persian traditional/classical music, with the Persian ney at the heart of his musical expression. He has performed in Iran, Athens, London, Yorkshire, Glasgow and Edinburgh. His music explores the emotional depth, subtle melodies, and timeless beauty of Persian music, building a bridge between ancient traditions and contemporary sound.

The Extremely Large Telescope - made in Edinburgh with Alistair Glasse and Katie Morris
Alistair Glasse and Katie Morris, two scholars from the Royal Observatory Edinburgh will explore the Extremely Large Telescope and its impacts on our understanding of space in this accessible and exciting talk.
The talk will take place in Oxgangs Library's community room. A parallel activity will take place for children in the main library.

Music on the Mezzanine with Little Big Horns
In a change to the programme, Little Big Horns, a sax quartet, and alumni of the Bristo Community Concert Band step in to entertain the Mezzanine audience. They'll treat us to a programme of delights from their repertoire including film tunes, show tunes and other great tunes.

Music on the Mezzanine with Edinburgh Mandolin and Guitar Ensemble
The Edinburgh Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra (EMGO) is a plucked string orchestra of mandolins, mandolas, classical guitar and bass. Their repertoire of light classical, film and world music is drawn from many countries and traditions.

Music on the Mezzanine with Sangstream Scots Folk Choir
Sangstream are an Edinburgh-based community choir led by acclaimed Scottish traditional musician Corrina Dawn (Hewat). For almost 30 years they've been entertaining audiences with an enchanting variety of (mostly) Scots folk songs, both contemporary and traditional, some well known and others less so.

Music on the Mezzanine with Simmerdim
Simmerdim is an Edinburgh-based a cappella trio; named after the long summer twilight in the far North of Scotland, when the sun briefly dips below the horizon and it is never truly dark.
Simmerdim sing original arrangements of an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary songs at festivals, in cafes, at book launches, house concerts and other events.

Music on the Mezzanine with Little Big Horns
Little Big Horns is a saxophone quartet made up of five regular members (plus special guests on occasion), who bring a depth of musical talent and experience with them.
Little Big Horns are based in Edinburgh and are a group who enjoy each other's company and playing a wide range of music. From jazz to the charts, swinging past classical and TV/film along the way, variety and fun are the only constants.
