S6 West - Controlled Parking Zone
Implementation of the S6 Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) was managed over 2 phases, with only the eastern part of the zone being implemented initially. This approach was taken to allow us to carry out further monitoring in the western part of S6. The results of this additional monitoring were discussed with Ward Councillors and led to part of this area being added to the S6 parking zone. The remaining streets in the S6 area were then subject to further monitoring and are now due to be added to the CPZ.
Implementation of Parking Controls - Zone S6 West
The Council wrote to all affected residents and local businesses in January and February 2026 to provide information regarding the implementation of the parking controls.
From Monday 9 March 2026, eligible residents and businesses will be able to apply for parking permits, with the new parking controls due to take effect on Monday 23 March 2026.
From Monday 23 March 2026, anyone who wishes to park on street must park in the marked bays and will need to either obtain a permit or pay to park. Most parking controls will operate Monday to Friday, between 8:30am and 5:30pm, but some operate 24 hours a day (such as double yellow lines and disabled persons' parking places). Drivers should check the signage before parking.
Parking Permits
From Monday 9 March, residents and local businesses will be able to apply for parking permits by visiting our parking permit webpage. The page provides information regarding all available permits, including their prices and terms and conditions of use.
If you apply for a permit before the parking controls come into effect, please ensure that you align the start date of your permit with the “go-live” date of 23 March 2026.
Monitoring
We will continue to monitor the western part of zone S6 and will review monitoring data and feedback from residents to understand how the zone is working, and whether there are any areas where controls should be reviewed. Monitoring is an important aspect of the implementation of new parking controls and ensures that adjustments are made where required, once new controls have bedded in.
