Festive recycling tips
Below are some festive recycling tips:
- Foil from cooking turkey (cleaned), chocolate coins, mince pies etc. can be scrunched together and recycled in mixed recycling.
- Lots of us are shopping online which means more packaging:
- styrofoam and bubble wrap cannot be recycled and should go in the bin.
- cardboard should be flattened and recycled.
- soft plastics can be handed in at your local big supermarket.
- Christmas cards and wrapping paper can be recycled unless they are glittery or metallic (remember to remove tape first).
- Broken fairy lights can be recycled at your local household waste recycling centre along with small electrical items (WEEE).
- Unwanted or broken electronics can be donated to for refurbishment to help cut down on waste.
- Broken baubles and drinks glasses cannot be recycled and should be wrapped up and put in the general waste.
