A wide range of free parenting programmes for parents and carers of children from birth to 16 years. Available to parents and carers with children living or attending school in Edinburgh. You can access these supportive, practical courses designed to build confidence, strengthen family relationships, and make everyday parenting easier.
Togetherness Pathways online courses for parents and carers
The Togetherness Pathways are evidence-based, written by health professionals to support emotional health and wellbeing for families. The library offers topics from antenatal, postnatal, six months to 19 years, pre-teens and teens, adult mental health and wellbeing, understanding trauma and relationships. The library is free and available in different languages.

Raising Children with Confidence for parents and carers of nought to 11-year-olds
A six week course, suitable for all parents and carers. Drawing on the latest research, it promotes positive emotional health and well-being and explores ways parents can make a difference in their children’s emotional well-being and mental health. Courses are held in some primary schools and community venues. Recommended for parents and carers, early years children and children up to P5.
Incredible Years for parents and carers of three to five-year-olds
A friendly, evidence-based course for parents and carers of children aged three to five years. Backed by over 30 years of research worldwide, the programme has been proven to strengthen parent and child relationships and reduce challenging behaviour. Supporting and encouraging positive behaviour through play, praise and clear routines, while providing practical strategies for managing tantrums, shouting, refusing to follow directions.

Triple P for parents and carers of six to 10-year-olds
An eight week evidence-based programme for parents and carers of children aged six to 10 years. Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme) offers simple, effective tools to build confidence, strengthen parent and child relationships, and develop knowledge and skills to cope with difficult behaviours such as tantrums, emotional meltdowns, shouting, answering back and refusing to follow rules.

Raising Teens with Confidence for parents and carers of 11 to 16-year-olds
A six-week course suitable for all parents and carers. It explores how adults can support their teenage children to navigate increasing independence; develop confidence, security and resilience; and promote and benefit from emotional wellbeing. The latest research on what helps support emotional wellbeing throughout life is used. This includes adolescent brain development, risk-taking behaviour, the importance of communication, and stress's effects. Courses run in some Edinburgh secondary schools and community venues.
Recommended for parents and carers of children aged P6 and P7 and young people of high school years.
Teen Triple P for parents and carers of 11 to 16-year-olds
An eight-week evidence-based programme for parents and carers of pre-teen/teenagers aged 11 to 16 years. Teen Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme) helps parents and carers build stronger, more positive relationships and develop effective strategies for managing common teenage behaviour challenges. It provides practical tools, support and confidence to navigate the teenage years with calm, consistency and connection.

Seasons for Growth for parents and carers of six to 18-year-olds
A short group work programme designed to help adults understand and support children and young people aged six to 18 years navigating significant life changes, such as death, divorce, or separation. It provides tools to strengthen emotional wellbeing, foster resilience, and improve communication skills, allowing parents and carers to better support their children through grief, loss, and change.
