Corstorphine Connections

Final stage of construction - December 2025

Pavement widening at Manse Road and Kirk Loan

On Monday 1 December, we will start work on the final stage of the project to make permanent the measures that were temporary until the Experimental Traffic Order was approved by councillors on the Council's Traffic Regulation Order Sub-Committee (October 2024).

This will bring to a close the Corstorphine Connections project which has made it easier and safer to walk, wheel or cycle around the community, and will involve pavement widening, bollards, crossings and raised tables.

MacLay Civil Engineering is the contractor appointed by the Council to carry out the work. They will work between 9.30am and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Emergency vehicles will have access at all times.

To make sure the area is safe for residents and workers, and so we can complete the work as efficiently as possible, we will put in place some temporary restrictions.

Manse Road - from Monday 1 December 2025 for 2 weeks

We will be widening pavements on Manse Road at the junction with Corstorphine High Street. During these works we will temporarily close the southern end of Manse Road to through traffic with access for residents through the Featherhall area.

The 68 bus will also be diverted around the Featherhall area. To make sure there is enough space for the bus, we will introduce temporary parking restrictions on:

  • Featherhall Avenue between the junction of Ladywell Road and Featherhall Terrace
  • Featherhall Terrace

Kirk Loan - from 5 January 2026 for 4 to 6 weeks

We will temporarily close Kirk Loan for pavement widening and to build raised tables at the junction with St John’s Road. These will be similar to the upgrades recently completed at the entrances to the car park at the junction of Featherhall Avenue and St John’s Road.

Other smaller areas of work

Featherhall Crescent - installing a new drop kerb to improve accessibility

Featherhall Avenue - installing new bollards on the pavement to prevent vehicles mounting the kerb.
