How the trial will work
From 12 October 2026, we will extend bus lane times between Milton Road East to Leith Walk via London Road.
The operating hours will be
- 7am to 7pm, seven days a week
This is a change from
- 7.30am to 9.30am and 4pm to 6.30pm Monday to Friday
To support the new bus lane times, we need to change parking and loading restrictions along the route.
We will use a statutory power called an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO).
This means we can introduce temporary changes over 18 months to test them and look at how they’re affecting bus journeys, local residents and businesses.
In the first six months of the trial, you will be able to submit views. These views will help inform future decisions on whether the trial should be made permanent, amended or removed.
