Project Update
We are pleased to confirm that Phase 1 works are now fully complete. As part of this phase, we have installed additional parking along Edinburgh Road than what was previously there for the benefit of residents and visitors.
To keep the project on schedule and minimise delays, we have made slight adjustments to the programme of works. These changes are designed to ensure the overall end date remains as originally communicated. The revised plan involves the following stages:
- Footpath widening works will commence first, starting on 11th May at The Loan. This will improve pedestrian access and safety.
- Following this, we will carry out the installation of raised tables and pedestrian areas, further enhancing safety and accessibility at key crossing points.
- The final stage, which involes laying the carriageway setts, will take place after the summer months. This timing has been chosen to minimise disruption during the busy summer period, when there is typically higher footfall and vehicle traffic.
To reduce inconvenience during construction, the footpath widening works will be scheduled to allow at least one lane of traffic to remain open at all times. A temporary running lane will be in operation throughout this phase to help maintain access along the High Street and limit disruption as much as possible.
We thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work to complete these essential improvements. Further updates will be provided as the programme progresses, and we remain committed to minimising disruption throughout the project.

Project Update
- Planing of the existing carriageway and small civil works in preparation of the new carriageway will be undertaken, including replacing gullies and setting covers of existing manholes and gullies to height.
- We anticipate being able to maintain traffic through these works, although they will be slowed down and may need to stop at points for a short duration.
Thursday 2 April 2026
- Surfacing of the existing carriageway .
- This phase may require a full road closure at The Loan. During this period, access will be restricted to deliveries and residents only. Traffic will be escorted through the main street, operating as a two-way system to allow vehicles to exit and re-enter The Loan safely.
We will coordinate closely with the traffic management team to ensure the closure is as short as possible and to minimise inconvenience to residents and road users.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete these essential works. We will continue to keep you updated on progress and any changes to the schedule.

Project Update
March has proved to be a testing period for resources, however we remain committed to completing Phase 1 (Seals Craig to Hawes Car Park) and are working hard to ensure this is finished before the Easter holidays.
Our aim is to minimise disruption as much as possible throughout the works. To achieve this, we are focusing on completing each section fully before progressing to the next. We are also conscious that parking and access are at a premium, and we will be endeavouring to maximise availability and convenience during all stages of the project.
Following the completion of Phase 1 there will be a short break for Easter, following which works on Phase 2a (The Loan to the Boat House Steps and 8 Edinburgh Road to Seals Craig) are scheduled to commence. Further details will be available in due course.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we progress through these stages and will continue to provide updates on any further developments.

Project Update
Phase 1 of the project (Seals Craig to Hawes Car Park) is almost complete with some outstanding lining works to be undertaken.
There has been a slight delay to the start of Phase 2 (Main High Street works) due to issues around the supply of materials. We anticipate this being resolved shortly and works will start during March 2026. As a reminder, these works have been split into two phases:
- Phase 2a: The Loan to the Boat House Steps and 8 Edinburgh Road to Seals Craig - these works are expected to be completed by Autumn 2026.
- Phase 2b: Queensferry Museum to 8 Edinburgh Road, The Ferry Tap to Queensferry Museum, and The Boathouse Steps to The Ferry Tap - these works are expected to completed between Autumn 2026 - Winter 2026 / 2027.
Further details will be issued in due course.
We apologise for the delay in works commencing and we will continue to work with the contractor to minimise disruption in the area as much as possible.

Project Update
The works on Edinburgh Road are progressing well and are approaching completion. The surfacing and lining works are nearly finished, and all parking bays are expected to be reopened imminently.
Preparations are currently underway to commence the main phase of works. We anticipate beginning within the next week or two, subject to site setup and the completion of traffic management arrangements. Our team is working closely with traffic management contractors to minimise disruption and ensure the safety of all road users and pedestrians, while delivering a high quality scheme efficiently and on time.
We appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we work towards completing this important project. We will keep you informed of progress and thank you for your ongoing cooperation.

Project Update
The project has experienced some delays during Phase 1 (Seals Craig to Hawes Car Park) due to unforeseen circumstances in material supply. To ensure the quality of the works and to keep the project on track, we taken the decision to delay the start of the main works on the High Street (Phase 2) until the necessary materials are available. This approach will help us avoid further delays and aim to minimise parking disruptions and inconvenience to local residents and businesses.
We are also working closely with our newly appointed contractor to review the programme, focusing on options to maintain the original timeline. Our aim remains to complete the project by the original end date (December 2026) whilst delivering a high quality outcome.
In response to a community ask, the project will also be carrying out repair works to Jacob's Ladder. We are in advanced discussions with Rosebery Estates regarding permissions to carry out these works and further information will be available in due course.
We recognise that changes like these can be frustrating, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these challenges. We remain committed to completing this project as smoothly and efficiently as possible, with minimal disruption.
