Scottish Parliament Election - guidance on count procedures

Declaration: Edinburgh and Lothians East Region results

The full regional result – the allocation of seats -  is calculated on the basis of the regional results from across all nine constituencies in the Edinburgh and Lothians East Region. The other three constituencies outwith Edinburgh  will be sending  their results to the count hall by email, with confirmation by telephone, to allow the regional result to be calculated.

Once this has been done the Regional Returning Officer (RRO) will share this result with regional agents who will be given five minutes to consider it. The declaration of the result for the Edinburgh and Lothians East Region and the seven successful candidates will be made from the stage. Only the seven successful candidates will be able to join the RRO on stage. The successful candidates will all be allowed to make a short speech in the order in which the candidates are elected.
