Verification of Unused Papers
Every ballot paper issued to a polling station is accounted for whether it is in the ballot box, spoiled or unused. Overnight there will be teams in the Highland Hall checking the numbers of unused and spoiled ballot papers returned from each polling station. Candidates and their agents are able to observe this activity should they wish.
This stage is crucial as it checks that all the ballot papers are properly accounted for.
